Superyachts

Silver Angel, Benetti, Livorno“Silver Angel” is a 64.5m (211.61ft) motor yacht built by Benetti in 2009. The cost of a boat like this in millions of euro is almost the same as her length.I Dynasty, Benetti, LivornoWe have already met this boat in another post, here is the 59m (193.57ft) “I Dynasty”, built by Benetti in 2008.Quantum of Solace, Benetti, LivornoThe 52m (170,60ft) “Quantum of Solace” (ex Midlandia), built in 2001, was on sale a couple of years ago for slightly less than 20 millions of euro. Keep in mind that each one of these superyachts built here means work for at least 300 locals for a year.

I've always found these things to be literally incredible! The rich really are different! When we lived in the Fort Lauderdale area, I'd take a lot of photos of super yachts...this was back in the late 80s and 90s. I remember being told by someone who knew about them, that to fill one with the proper fuel would cost about $40-45,000 USD. Can't imagine what it would cost now!

Your photographs are beautiful!

Would not mind owning one of those beauties! We saw some nice ones in Key West too. We'll have to keep saving though.

I've never seen such beauties, wow. Very sleek.

The best thing about them is the income for the workers who build them.

Have you been inside one of them??
They look very elegant and are probably very very comfortable too.

Though I admire the craftsmanship, I don't like this kind of ship. Give me sailing boat any day.

Our "luxury yacht" business is very big here. While I don't know the exact employment numbers, it is huge.

Wow, I had no idea at all the price tag involved in this kind of yacht building. I never pay much attention to this kind of vessel for the same reason as Ciel de Quimper: our family drools over sailboats, mainly, and sometime classic and much smaller motor boats (like the wooden ones from the 20's through 60's still in great use here). Tom Cruise parked his luxury yacht here last year and I noticed it because it was so huge and out of place next to our fishing fleet. Now I'm going to look it up and see if it was made in your area, and what builders here on the US west coast are building that may be along these lines. Fascinating. Have you every been invited on board one of these beauties?

It looks like it's from a sci-fi movie. I like that it provides so many jobs.

What an amazing boat! I wish I could take a tour of a multi-million euro boat like that!
