The Blackbird

I'm tired of pigeons and seagulls, so when I saw this blackbird in “Piazza del Municipio” I was quite happy.
In Italian “merlo” (blackbird) is something like a fool or an easily conned guy.

This bird is no fool. He knows a good photographer when he sees one.

And it is a lovely blackbird. Are you sure it isn't a seagull in disguise?

Wow! I like both pictures and I like the bird, but that first one is Art with a capital A in my book any time any place. Bravo!

I think it is a darned nice blackbird and it doesn't look like a seagull at all. MB

Le merle, suo bellissimo canto (this is all very rusty!) Strange that it became such an expression!

Wish I could share your joy in seeing this bird; they too often steal from our feeder. Clever, tho, since they perch on top of the shepherd's crook, shaking it vigorously to knock the seed on the ground. Otherwise they would not be able to get seed from the feeder which is designed to keep squirrels and large birds away.

Can't stand these birds(is that a sin?)! Always in everybody's business. Ha!

There are so many around my house and I have just realized they don't sleep at night as other birds do. Melro also in portuguese.

They are singing outside my bedroom as I'm typing this. Known as Koltrast in Swedish.
