Again on the “Amerigo Vespucci”, where some of the crew are joyfully climbing the ratlines to reach the top, then climbing down after a while. The sky was blue, the weather warm. The exercise was repeated for the three masts, maybe only an occasion to snap some photos of each other...

How come you didn't climb up with them :-) The view from up there must be good.
Yes, would you go up there?
(Me? Not a chance!)
I'm lazy but quite a climber. Weight and age aren't on my side, but I would give it a (slow) try. Obviously with the ship safely tied to the dock.
Not having a great appreciation for heights of any kind, I shall let my friend, Vogon Poet, climb the ropes and catch the view, and I will take pictures of him climbing so that he can prove to the world that he really did it.
How does that sound?
Excellent series of pictures.
Sunny
And I'll talk a photo of Jacob Meister taking a photo of Vogon Poet so we know that Jacob took the picture! (Steffe will be interviewing the pretty Italian girls and photographing them on the dock.)
Hang on up there! Don't slip!
The exercise looks like a great way to get exercise. These are really nice.
Nice post, I couldn't climb the mast, too much fear of hights. I almost can feel it looking at the picture.
BEautiful shot !! Lovely view !!Unseen Rajasthan
I want to see who else was observing the exercise. I'd imagine a lot of young women staring at the ... masts of course.
Fantastic series!!
Is it part of their training?
I would love to be up on that platform while the ship was sailing. I doubt if I can climb up or down those ropes though…
Incretible ship, wonderfull images :))
Very interesting!wondeful series of the ship.
Hehe. More men at work. Nice :-)
My favourite is the 1st shot. Love all the lines!
I'm with Tinsie. These are grand!
It takes so much work to maintain those ships. So much training and coordination.
It looks like they are waiting for you to come up and join them!
Some utterly wonderful photos here--I LOVE that first one, all of them really.
Something just wonderful about old-tyme sailing ships. Sweet!
Fascinating! Is Johny Depp one of them? Hide the rum :) I really had fun with those series!
Love all those graceful lines. Truly elegant against the blue skies.
They are brave guys! I think it is so dangerous! :)
Hello dear friend,
please forgive me for my absence, we were travelling again.
Your blog is always beautiful and very interesting!
Have a great week

These are great! I'm discovering that I especially like photos with sky as the background - looking up! It's going to be quite a party with you all there climbing ropes, taking photos, and interviewing girls on the dock. I'll invite myself to come along. I might just try the climbing, but of course trying not to drop the camera.
I will certainly look forward to the post on Astoria in Livorno!
Ah yes, their waiting your ascent
and we photograph!
:-)
Beautiful series:
the cords draw the sky!
It looks like a difficult climb but, oh, what fun and what a view!!
Great photos, but not a job for me thank you
I like this, you sail to New Zealand and look for Barauch? I see your comment on his site a lot, and came to say Hi.
