Ovo Sodo

Our rowing season has become increasingly boring because of the superiority of the Venezia team. Two rowers of the Benci-Centro, nicknamed “Ovo Sodo” (Hardboiled Egg) for its colors, are relaxing on the jetty of their “cantina” just before the “Coppa Ilio Barontini”. The race was then won, as always, by the Venezia.

Coppa Risi'atori 2015

Last Saturday I wasn't able to be at the “Coppa Risi'atori”, but here are the photos of my friend Maurizio.

The crew of the “Venezia” won the race for the seventh year in a row.
“Ovo Sodo” ended up second and “Borgo Cappuccini” was third.

“Salviano” was last, with only nine rowers... Maurizio is also a good photographer, isn't he?

Palio Marinaro 2014

This year, for various reasons, I missed all the races of our rowing season. The Trofeo D'Alesio didn't take place and I was busy elsewhere during my absolute favorite: the Coppa Risi'atori. I was never a great fan of the Coppa Barontini, not easy to watch at night, and you can really enjoy the Palio Marinaro only if you can see it from a boat. By the way, they also canceled the silly Palio dell'Antenna, so our rowing season ended yesterday with the third victory in three races for the Venezia. (Picture taken last June)

Through the Arch

Without Trofeo D'Alesio

The “Trofeo D'Alesio”, the opening race of the Livornese rowing season, did not take place yesterday. It was announced some time ago that the D'Alesio family had withdrawn its support to the competition for undisclosed reasons.
