The Bridge is Working!

New footbridge, Fortezza Vecchia, Livorno
The new footbridge to the Fortezza Vecchia is working. Here you can see it from the Porta del Duca toward the Scalo Regio: I have just crossed it and the bridge is now opening to let a boat pass.

Looks like the gate opens and closes automatically as boats approach the footbridge?

I can imagine that bridge becoming a well used one!

I tried to figure out which parts move and where they go when a boat passes, but I failed!

Revrunner - There is an operator and a schedule.

Jack - The central part of the footbridge is sliding toward us: you can see the different levels of the flooring.

I like it. I can see the opening. I thought it would rise, but it must slide together. Very nice!

It's nice and wide for a footbridge.
