Bruno Gregoretti

Museum ship Bruno Gregoretti, Andana degli Anelli, port of Livorno
The “Bruno Gregoretti” (CP 312) has been a Coast Guard cutter for almost thirty years. Dismissed in 2008, the boat was recently restored and it is now moored at the Andana degli Anelli, inside the Porto Mediceo, as a museum ship.

She was originally built in Germany as a 23-meter ‘Seenotrettungskreuzer’ (rescue boat), and the refurbished cruiser bears her original and quite unusual livery.

She looks like new to me, I wonder why she could not be used anymore...
Well, a new museum piece is also a good idea...

Looks to be in great condition. I bet if it were Canadian it would still be being used. ;))

It gives it a different look.

I think that those of us who do not live by the sea are unaware of all the good work done by the Coast Guard. I'm so glad to see this vessel restored and used as a museum.

What a beautiful boat. I'd love to see it in person.

Along with tugs, these are my favourites. I was lucky enough to take a ride on a Seenotrettungsboot once. It was fantastic. Are they volunteers in Italy too?

ciel - The Coast Guard is part of the Navy, only smaller RIBs are manned by volunteers.

I don't know much about boats, but this one seems particularly colorful and appealing.

Very interesting about this pretty boat.
Seenotrettungskreuzer -- the word might be longer than the boat.

Nice with the Italian colors.

Thanks VP. Over here, the Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer is like the RNLI in the UK: volunteers only and donations.
