In all these images the tug is assisting the 286-meter container ship “Rio de Janeiro”. Like almost every other tug of the Neri fleet, the “Fratelli Neri” has also fire fighting capabilities.

As always these are great VP.
Very workmanlike boats, those tugs. The scale against the freighter is quite formidable, though the Rio de Janeiro seems less massive than some ships I've seen in your blog.
Another nice one. Big too.
What a nice and interesting posting.
I am really in awe of these little tugs assisting the giants.
Makes sense, I suppose, for these workhorses to do double-duty.
Super ships and super photos!
It's amazing to me that tiny tugs can be so useful to the HUGE freighters. ;)
I had the same thought as EG CameraGirl...
Great pictures !
Terrific harbor photos. That tug looks right up to the minute with its bridge that looks both directions. I do enjoy seeing your photos of boats and ships.
So small in comparison; yet so powerful.
Such strong little things they are!
You know how I love tugs!
(And now I want to visit Hamburg again...)
These tug boats are very impressive and I know they are essential to the smooth operation of the shipping industry. Love your photos!
The bottom shot is my favourite.
