The tugs “
Piero Neri”, “
Alfredo Neri”, and “Porto di Livorno” assist the 270-meter container ship “MSC Vigo” in leaving the port.
(Photos taken last March)
Here the “Porto di Livorno” is pulling from behind, while the “Piero Neri” is backtracking along the side of the ship.
A tiny Optimist sailboat caught against the stern: the ship's beam is 40 meters.

That is one huge ship. I cannot imagine the complexity of being captain of such a vessel. Thank goodness for those tugboats!
Super shot, VP!
That last shot is a little scary!
Some day this young man may captain a ship like the Vigo.
I'm always struck by the difference in scale
Great shots VP. Pretty amazing.
Those little tug boats must be really strong.
Wow! That sailboat really gives you an idea of the size of the ship. Nice shots.
Size difference in the last photo is huge.
That ship just goes on and on, so long!
Wow, it is HUGE.
The last image is my favourite.
You must have a very busy port area in Livorno.
even the lettering is humongous! i'd be scared to be the guy in the last photo!
The last photo is simply fabulous !
Ingenious, VP !
You see all kinds of vessels. Love that last shot!

I really like your photos that show the comparative sizes of the small and big ships! Here the sailboat looks super tiny!
Love the Optimist shot. For once I'm less in love with the tugs than with a tiny Optimiste!
That last photo is brilliant!
That is a brave sailor in that last pic!
L'ultima foto la dice tutta sulle proporzioni del bestione! Ciao, Arianna
I think you already know which photo is my favourite. The bottom one, of course! :-) Amazing!
