Theme Day: Best of 2009

The band of the Navy playing in the Gazebo, LivornoLast May, during the spectacular closing ceremony of the TAN (Naval Academy Trophy), the band of the Navy was playing in the “Gazebo” a selection of not very martial tunes, while sails of any size and description crowded the waters in front of the “Terrazza Mascagni”.

Love this shot. Sweet in every sense of the word. Very candid and elegant at the same time.

I can understand why you picked this one. Great to see all the kids sitting there listening to the somewhat older musicians.

I hear this one singing! Great choice.

It seems to me I remember a similar shot of this event without the little tykes clamoring about. They look like they are actually listening!

It's so different from most of your CDP photos (which I adore), but this one is teeming with life, not just art. A nice choice for the year.

Good choice for the blog day

It's a terrific photo which shows the contrast between the generations, the playfulness of the children and the serious play of the adults. Love the spots of pink, too.

Excellent choice. Look at all the bright colors with the children and the stuffy orchestral colors. Love it!!!!! MB

This is a great choice for your "best of ...". The colors, the composition, the perfect angle of the baton all really give the viewer a close sense of the scene.

And an awesome contrast against yesterday's display of decay. Such is life in a city.

I couldn't even begin to pick from your photos!! However, this people picture captures so much emotion and energy. Those children are glued to that music.

It is a good photo, full of energy. The children in the sun all brightly colored, the musicians in uniform in the shade.

Don't you just love photographing children enraptured in something wonderful like music. You take so many special photographs, I imagine it must have been difficult to choose just one.

It reminds me of my childhood, because my father used to play trumpet in the city orchestra. My sister and I used to go to see him in the big garden.

Love this shot, it feels almost cinematic, it is so lively and full of motion and you feel like you can sense the next frame. Also it seems so full of innocence and feels very fresh. Simply beautiful.
