(But of course also very sad for the people living there..... )

Firefighters to the rescue again! We have all volunteers here - how about in Livorno?

Great photos! Hope everybody and everything is okay.

Excellent photographs, VP. Maybe you should be the official fire department photographer...show them these and you'll be hired, I guarantee it!

Drama abounds. Glad no one was hurt. Fire is so devastating. One of the things I remember about the Navy - the fear of fire. And we had to learn firefighting in boot camp - not fun.

These guys deserve all the credit they can get and more!

Hey, that's a great report. I'm glad no one was injured. I love their high-tech outfits. In fact, I want one!

Funny, I was going to post about fire soon. I need a good picture of the completed building. The fire was just over a year ago; the repairs and done and it looks better than before. I'm waiting for a day when I'm in the location without rain!

Wonderful dramatic photos! I am glad no one was injured by the fire (but someone has lost their lovely apartment!)

I agree with Jacob on all accounts.
Excellent photo story & thank goodness no one was hurt!
& yes to be a fireman is a tremendous act of courage & service. God bless them.

Great action shots. High drama.

Pity the poor people who have to clean up after the fire, smoke, water, and broken windows.

I enjoyed shooting the fire drill exercise at the monastery in Switzerland. The firemen went up on hook and ladder and "rescued" two nuns on strechers. (Hmm, maybe I should start a non-Israel blog for things like this.)

Hope you will have no more fires to photograph.

Worst part over for the firemen but still to come for the apartment owner.

Eek. Fire has got to be my worst fear as a homeowner. I'm glad no one was hurt.

Marvelous set of photos, though this is something I would never want to experience first hand.

@ Leif - Only pros here. When military service was compulsory I think it was possible to serve as fireman, but I'm not sure.
@ Jacob - You are always too optimist about my skills...

@ joo - I always carry the camera with me. Things happens...
@ Julie - You are right, I saw the apartment this morning: practically a black hole.

Oh, this does not look good. Someone is in for a nasty surprise. At least no one was home to get hurt!

... And the photojournalist was there!

No, no, no - so destructive, how horrible. Great photography though, and reminder to be mindful of indoor fires too. The perspecive in the 1st shot is great.

No, the worst part is when the owners come home.

See, when you carry a camera, you can capture news. Great shots.

Agree with everyone here, this is quality reporting here. The last two photos look very dramatic, with the dark smoke and the people in action.
