New Year's Day

I had my Sunday walk on Friday, because it was New Year's Day. “Via Magenta”, an “Erboristeria” (Herbalist) were some real leaves are reaching the ones painted on the plaque.Same street, a Smart parked in front of the restaurant “Paparazzi”.On a corner of “Via Maggi”, a Madonna is busy balancing herself on a sphere, trying to avoid live wires dangling over her head. The plaque of “Square of the Unity of Italy” has fallen off the wall of the “Palazzo del Governo” and lies on the ground broken in two.

Another entertaining view of
Livorno . . . I love the real and unreal plants and your interpretation of the Madonna! BTW, Violette-le-Duc. I'm sure I read that years ago, but of course had forgotten, so thanks for reminding me :)

The second I saw the cables over the Madonna I knew you would make a joke about that! Lol!

You have an endearing sense of humour, VP! This post made me smile at least three times. :)))

Really, you see the most interesting things during your walks! Even if I took the same walk, I'd probably not notice half of what you do.

I love the beautiful sign of the herbalist. And your funny interpretation of the Madonna's bowed head. Many Asians would feel quite at home with this kind of 'make-do' renovation work. :)

Per Strömsjö of Stockholm, Sweden, is a great thinker. He already said what I wanted to say about this post. Many cheers!

If they light her up some dear soul will think it is a miracle and start a shrine. I would rather be in Livorno than Edinburgh so if the position of the Administrator of the Holy Shrine of Our Lady of the Live Wires comes up I will apply. Keep me posted.

@ Ilse - I won't be so sure of that...

@ margaret - And this is only one of our unusual Ladies. If you check my old posts you'll find the '24 hour Madonna'...
