Deletions

What is now the clinic “Villa Tirrena” was once “Villa Albatros”, the old name is still decipherable... trying to connect the dots. When the “Dopolavoro Ferroviario” (railroad workers' club) was founded, it bore the name of the Fascist leader Costanzo Ciano, still visible after the post-war deletion.I have no idea of what was written here, on the facade of “Villa Montano”. Any suggestion welcome.

Interesting that Costanzo Ciano's name is still readable; it looks like the sign below it was eradicated by someone shooting at it! Oh it's probably just holes for bolts. I like the top photo, a very mysterious sign.

Funny! One must be careful what one puts up with the belief it will be forever.

Everything changes!

The last - well, that's easy: It read, at one time:

Vogon Poet - the Great.

But some jealous wannabee photographer took down the letters...so it's up to you, VP, to reinstall them!

I hope you find someone who remembers what the last sign bore. A puzzle you can't answer is like an itch you can't scratch!

I'm thinking of these more as revisions than deletions. Excellent idea for a post, VP. You are so creative.

These are beautiful Vogon. Great shots. I love the many different textures in the images.

The last one is really beautiful with the arched shapes. I like it better with the letters completely missing than the first two with revisions. This really is a great concept for a post.

So interesting, this de-facing of names.

Talk about word processing at the grandest of scales.

Fun post, VP. Eradicating old signs must be a tough job. The last sign must have bee especially difficult
- look at all those holes!

Sometimes all we can do is to connect the dots! Such is life. Thanks.

As the Highlander says--Nothing last forever! Except a villa in Italy. Very witty post.

Very interesting - first one is terrific - why they changed the name? Villa Albatros sounds nice!
