Carlo Bergamini (F 590)
The “Carlo Bergamini” (F 590) is an European multi-purpose frigate, the first unit of the class bearing her name. The FREMM (from Frégate européenne multi-mission and Fregata europea multi-missione) is a class of ships designed by DCNS/Armaris and Fincantieri for the navies of France and Italy.
The presence of this ship in our port is linked to the opening ceremony of a new plant at the Sgarallino pier, which can supply electrical power to berthed ships, allowing them to shut down even the auxiliary engines and generators.

Very sleek, and quite modern.
Yes, very modern and yet still very threatening. I'm amazed at all the electronics aboard these ships. I was in the Navy at the dawn of the computer age...I worked for awhile for the captain of the base and part of my job was to make posters for speeches. No computers at all back then.
magnificent vessel
Must take a powerful amount of current to power the electronics on that boat.
Interesting about that new plant. I never thought about how a berthed ship gets her power.
That's a big one!
Bellissina Fregata ai mieio tempi erano un pò piu spartane..

I bet the ability to supply electrical power to berthed ships will be popular. I like the lines of this frigate.
Really nice shots of the ships.
That is one very impressive ship!
A military ship on Armistice Day. Military life goes on!
Looks solid !
(And I like the smart thing with electrical power.)
Good looking ship!
