Pilots at Work

Pilots on a pilot boat, port of Livorno
A busy day for the pilots of the port of Livorno: it is late afternoon and three cruise ships are leaving within minutes, with also ferries and cargo ships coming and going.
Ventura cruise ship, IMO 9333175, port of Livorno
Twenty minutes later the 291-meter “Ventura” is already outside the port, but we can still see the pilot.
Riviera cruise ship, IMO 9438078, port of Livorno
The 239-meter “Riviera” is still moored inside the Porto Mediceo, but the pilots are already on board.

Pilot boat looks almost awash with water.

Revrunner and I were thinking the exact same thing.

These are all superb photos. Each is special. That tug is moving water as it moves out! I didn't realize until fairly recently how busy your port was.

What a contrast between the two boats.

That first photo looks like they are about to get swamped!

That little boat looks like it is sinking.

Fa un certo effetto vedere gente sopra quella vetrata sospesa! Bel colpo d'occhio sui piloti..ciao, Arianna
