The Cormorant

Cormorant, Porto Mediceo, Livorno
I do not know much about birds, but it is quite rare to see here something different from gulls and pigeons.
Cormorant, Porto Mediceo, Livorno
I have seen cormorants on the rocks at Antignano, but this is my first one inside the Porto Mediceo.

Nice shot. They are usually so quick, I've not managed to get anything showing their wing colours so clearly!

I noticed that wing-coloring, too and the white spot on the neck--both strike me as quite unlike the variety that are so common here in the Middle Atlantic States.

A face only a mother could love.

Birds, water, bird swimming on water--it's the best of both worlds. And always fun to see something new.

Maybe it was lost? :-) You caught it really nicely, great details!

So cute little friend, you got beautiful pictures, I love the colors and the sensation of water motion.

It's a good sign. We have lots of them here now, both on the coast and on the Tagus estuary.
