Livorno, a city of 160,000, is without running water since yesterday. A control unit at the local utility was allegedly struck by a lightning during a storm last night. They probably have never heard of the interesting contraption invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1749. Schools will be closed today and we will be on the dry side at least until the late afternoon.

Wow! I don't think I've every heard of a city's water works being knocked out by lightning. I'd be interested in knowing more as information becomes available.
I hope it will be back soon!
Shrinks life to its real, its important size.
It is a very nice photo.
Your comment today was interesting. I am not the person to defend much contemporary art, but, as you know, I do like Lewitt.
I hope these issues are resolved for you soon.
I enjoyed your comment on Jack's blog very much! :-)
Struck by lightning? That sounds like a bad joke.
Oi no!
It's shocking to realize how fragile our essential services are.
Maybe they can move the nice old fountain to the roof of the utility place as a lightning rod? ;)
May the good citizens of Livorno not suffer for too long.
Non avere acqua è un grosso problema per tutti! :(

Wow! That's terrible. Hope the water is back soon. :(
Oh, my, no fun at all to be without water. :(
Revrunner - You are right, the story of the lightning covered only a major break-up in one of the main supplying water to Livorno.
Jack - You asked, I answered sincerely. By the way, I have my sins: I really like Jackson Pollock!
That is a bit unreal these days.
I know the situation is awful, and I hope to be solved soon. Nevertheless, I like this kind of old fountains.
Awful situation but the photo is really great!
Oh wow, that must have been an awful experience. Glad to hear that your water's finally back.
Love this composition, btw.
