Scali delle Ancore

Scali delle Ancore, painting, LivornoIn the side window of a hardware store in “Borgo dei Cappuccini” it is quite common to see on display works of local painters.Scali delle Ancore, LivornoI recently tried to capture in a photo almost the same view of the painting, a few decades old, of the “Scali delle Ancore” .

That is amazing. Although I do like the boats in the painting best.

I saw something today about Georgia O'Keefe, the painter, and Alfred Steiglitz, the photographer who was her husband, with O'Keefe saying something like that painting and photography were both forms of art, but that she was starting to think that photography had the edge. It is so in this pair, even though the painting is lovely.

I'm glad that some things don't change. Thanks for this pair.

Wish WE would see paintings in a hardware store window.

Pure reality and painted reality. It makes me think O'Keeffe was right and she knew a lot about painting...Only people in that reality changed...

I love how you can take photos almost exactly like the old paintings and postcards! How lovely :-)

Cool idea. Looks like the roof has changed a bit on the building to the left.

Paintings and photos of the same place or photos and photos taken at different times are great.
