Seeing the lifeboats reminds me of the TITANIC exhibit which I visited recently! It's better to have too many lifeboats rather than not enough!

What a cozy looking lifeboat.

Well, you have left us with a series of very fine photographs, as well as a variety of mysteries! I've been thinking of how to solve them for so long my brain hurts.

I have not given up yet, though, and I shall continue my vigilant intellectual exercises even though I may not sleep a wink.

In the first shot, the crane is resting from its previous labors as reported in the post, "On Top."

The second shot is very sad as it reminds us of the 6 1/2 people who drowned because they jumped in the water without their life jackets.

The third remains a mystery.

The fourth has no mystery.

The fifth - I have no clue. Safety implements?

I hope you're happy now that you have caused great consternation in my mind! Sheesh!

Trillian must be an angel!

:-))

I love the Looney Tunes ship. Somehow the lifeboats all look comical.

Great idea for a post. There are so many different types of life boats these days. I like the old fashioned kind best however it's nice to see the new ones.

Very cool to see the same objects we're used to seeing in a different context. I think I'd get nervous after awhile with those cartoons watching me constantly.

P.S. I've never seen the round lifeboat before.

I love your larger than life cartoon characters. I bet children especially love them too.

Can you even imagine how it would be if all the thousands of cruise passengers had to abandon ship? Oi

I do love watching huge cranes at work.
Thanks for the link to earlier post (how did I miss that?). To me that corrugated roof and the man's protective suit says "Asbestos!"
Another oi!

Oh my, that is a huge ship. I don't think I would like to travel on a ship with Wily coyote on it. He was always losing out to the road runner. I guess I will stay on the road or be ready in a life boat.
Neat shots though. MB

@ Jacob - The boat in the third photo was delivered by the truck in the first, put in the water by the crane and was awaiting to be hoisted on board.
In the fifth shot you can see the packed version of the inflatable liferaft, stored in a hard-shelled canister.
The inflated raft was probably a test, everything was stopped for the lunch break.

The second one is my favourite - I'm not sure if one could trust it since it looks like toy life raft, but it's terrific:)

maybe it's only my imagination...but I was thinking of that first shot, the Coyote,he is really fast and it means faster, so they will need to be well prepared.Make sense! :)
Just kidding!
Beautiful pictures and very interesting details!

Fascinating to see different kinds of life rafts. I've never seen round or enclosed ones before.

It can't be a good omen having Wile E. Coyote on the side if the ship. Hope it's not the Acme Cruise Line.

A lot going on there! I like the coyote and so does my grandson.

All those lifejackets floating around - doesn't look like a good sign to me!

I still think the giant cartoon characters are somewhat ominous, looming over everything. I am glad they have the escape equipment ready!

There always seems to be plenty going on at your waterfront even during the low season!

I never thought harbors to be dull places but there's a lot more going around than I imagined.
