This is the skylight of the “Mercato Centrale” and the guy in white coveralls, safety belts and mask, is walking on top of it wielding a power tool. In foreground one of the lightning rods of the building.Probably they are fixing some of the Eternit boards of the roof, hence the protective gear, necessary to handle and cut this stuff. The huge crane almost uses all the width of the “Scali Saffi”.

Is the guy afraid of swine flu? He looks serious in that outfit like taken from a movie where the world is guaranteed :)
I meant quarantined. I had too much wine with that turkey :)
The top photo is very dramatic - scary! Did he leave his flying saucer just on the other side of the roof?
:-)
The next ones showing the scale are dizzying. I would not like to be up that high.
Three Rivers Daily Photo
Good and interesting documentary shots.
Have a nice weekend, with or without your camera!:-)
Fantastic shot !! This is a lovely post !!Unseen Rajasthan
First time I've seen someone suited up like that when it isn't an emergency. Good that great care is taken for his safety.
I liked it a lot, you showed the 3 versions of the place , and finally I got the whole building and the massive size of it!This man is BRAVE, I could never do it or stay in that "top"!
Happy weekend dear friend!

Seeing that first photo in the portal was totally intriguing. Well done, you.
When I first saw this on Google Reader (tiny thumbnail picture) I thought they must have been shooting another Star Wars movie!!
Pictures like that give me the "willies!" I don't like heights, nor do I like stuff I have to protect myself before handling!
Interesting slice of life, all in day's work. The man's outfit does look very impressive.
Not sure what's happening here. But that is a really nice olde building. I love the columns on the portico.
I like these workmen at work pictures!
Wow, an alien!
My husband does scary work like this. He can't understand why everyone thinks it's so weird - go figure.
I was thinking "moon walk" when I saw the top photo. But NOW I understand as I scroll down the page. :)
Looking at the first pic I would never say the 'white man' was this high! The crane pic is just great and the building looks beautiful.
