Micropoles

Micropoles, Venice new canal, LivornoThis ungainly contraption is a drill used for something called “micropoles”. We are in “Viale Caprera” and they are beginning the preliminary work for the re-digging of the old interred canal.Micropoles, Venice new canal, LivornoThis summer they traced the old parapets, now they are drilling holes into them before pouring the concrete “spikes”.     This is another nice series showing scenes of life from Livorno. I wish I was a little less shy so I could take photographs like these. Maybe this canal will come out nicer than the one dug a few years ago.

    These are lovely shots, VP, an a nie series, as always. When I enlarge them, I feel like I'm right there. I love the reflections of the water. And, I know this project is dear to your heart, so I'm sure you'll keep us well informed!

    Fascinating stuff, VP! I'm guessing that the "micropoles" will be used to stabilize the frame of the canal in some way?

    How do you know so much about this business?

    But it's nice 'cause when the canal is finished you can put your boat in it!

    Another canal? Is traveling faOr perhaps this is for tourism. I'm intrigued!ster by boat than by car? Or is this an urban renewal project?

    This is also a great opportunity to document this uncovering of the old canal and catch a lot of good old work pictures. Engineering jobs like this always pique my interest.

    It's also strange to imagine the street as once being water, and then filled in!

    An interesting bit of civil engineering. Are the metal tubes pounded into the ground, or are they just pushed in?

    In Bulgaria they first put brand new pavement on the street so it is nice and pretty for a couple of months then they call the destroyers like this. Hope you guys do it in the right order :)
