Ex-Pirelli

Former Pirelli factory, Viale Carducci, LivornoThis is a decoration on top of the wall surrounding the offices of a former factory in “Viale Carducci”, now a community center. We have already seen its beautiful clock in this post.Former Pirelli factory, Viale Carducci, LivornoI am not a great fan of quizzes, but this could be easy: here is a monogram outside the offices with the initials of the old factory. Can you guess the letters composing it?

amatamari© guessed right, the letters are S-I-C-E for “Societa Italiana Cavi Elettrici” (Italian Society Electrical Cables). Brava!

The decoration is somewhat odd, certainly original. What kind of service is available in such a community center?

Well, judging from your title, I would think p-i-r-e-l-l-i, most of which I think I can see. But I can also see, I think, a c and an s and the outside ring is an o.

I wonder, is the rust that forms in Italy any different from the rust that forms in Australia? On the same material, of course?

What interesting details.

These are wonderful discoveries. The first looks almost like it could be from a later period, such as the 1920s. About the second, I have no idea of the date, do you know when either was made? I loved seeing your clock post again. It was among my favorites.

OSCC??
It is too early, and I probably need glasses.... :-)

Anyway, I read an interesting article in the newspaper yesterday, about Napoleon who went to live on the island Elba.... and of course LIVORNO was mentioned both on the map, and as the city where he got his books from etc.
So I said load.... "I know LIVORNO", and in some ways I do, since I have followed your blog, and now are your follower number 108. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

@ Julie - Nothing to do with Pirelli, the last owner of the plant, which is still known by this name.
@ Gunn White - Four letters, without the external circle... Yu got two right!
I have to post something about Napoleon in Livorno!

SORRY, as you know I have followed your blog for months, and don`t very often follow MY list.... so I got a bit confused about these numbers....
Time for coffee.:-)

My guess is SCC, unless the outer O is included, in which case it's OSCC.

Lovely details, even though the place is screaming for a renovation.

Looking at it again, it seems like there's a t in there somewhere too. Ack, I should stop staring at it. But I love puzzles! ;)

It's not easy at all:)
I'm sure there is C and S but others - L and D? I don't know, but what I know is that it's superb!

I like the metalwork with colors added - a creative way to show the letters, and congratulations to Amatamari!

By the way, I hear it's raining buckets in your sister city in Oregon. I'm in Bend, Oregon today, and we have snow that's just now turning to rain. It's a good reason not to drive today.

Have a great New Year's Eve and I'll look forward to seeing more Livorno in 2010!

I would never guess this pretty labyrinth is supposed to represent letters. They should take your idea and color them - nice rainbow touch!

Happy New Year! 2010 is finally here too! Wish you and Trillian health and happiness!
