Christmas Eve

Yesterday, for once, I was not late getting to work, so I stopped in “Piazza Grande” to take a picture of the still lighted Christmas tree in front of the “Duomo”. But there is no tree, only the lights!New market stalls in “Via della Madonna” with a nice poker of cats.Boxes of colorful natural soap, for every skin or taste. Not far, a 65 euro Santa emerging from a chimney. Or is it a well?

Beautiful Christmas tree, and I do love the cats:)
Christmas Eve is the most important part of celebrations here in Poland and it's really special day for most of us. Let me wish you beautiful, relaxing and peaceful Christmas.
Buon Natale.

Ha! a hollow tree. It's a really nice photo though, with the tree and the symmetrical arches and the soft colors. Merry Christmas to you!

Buon Natale, cari 'blogger' amici.
The plaza is so beautiful and festive - I like your statement about lights/no tree :D
Very pretty & interesting collection of pre-holiday photos.

The Christmas tree made only of lights looks great, and no messy pine needles to sweep up.

Merry Christmas. I hope Santa is good to you.

You have another wonderful collection of photos here. I love the soaps and colors and the rustic boxes. The first photo is magnificent! The tree is lovely and the sky, too. I love the quality of the lighting inside the arches. It almost looks unreal. The building is classically beautiful. What a great post!

It like that tree of lights, and all the other wonderful little slices of life you treat us to throughout the year. Have a lovely holiday, VP and Trillian.

At least the 'tree' lets you see the church through it. But I guess it's not very pretty during the day, is it?

Those soaps will stop me in my tracks, even if I were already late for work. I love handmade soaps — the makers' creativity when it comes to mixing scents, textures and properties is wonderful!

Oops, I almost forgot. In case I don't get to visit tomorrow (we have a big family reunion): have a blessed and joyful Christmas, Mr Poet and Trillian!

The tree is lovely, even in half light. At night it must be magical. It is my hope that you have a lovely Christmas and a truly happy and peaceful 2010!

I love the Christmas tree on the plaza - very pretty. If you need one of those inflatable Santa decorations, we can ship you one for a lot less than 65 euro!

Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas to you and your family!!

I'm surprised to see a North American Santa in Livorno!

Merry Christmas, VP!

Gorgeous first shot.

Interesting phenomenon. Light decorations for a tree become a concept and take off on their own without a tree.

The tree at Piazzo Grande is so, so beautiful. I like the St. Nick, too. He looks a lot like the ones here in Florida. He does get around.

Thank you, VP, for the many kind and interesting gifts of Livorno you have given me all year. Your city is fascinating and your photos and copy have been inspirational.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

The top photo is stunning - now that's what I call conserving trees - great idea.

All these photos are lovely - beautiful colors.

That sky is is magical blue! The tree gives wonderful glow to the building. Are those the soaps that smell like berries? they are so tempting!

:) Beautiful series, I like all of them. They are all cheerful and colorful, but the cats are my favorite. That Santa charges a lot for popping out of the well :)
