Liberi!

Clet Abraham, piazza del Pamiglione, Livorno
An eye is missing and it has some unrelated add-ons, but is still an unmistakable work of Clet Abraham.

Clet in Florence #2

More variations on a no-entry sign by Clet Abraham, still on his home turf in Florence. By the way, this afternoon we will be back in Livorno.

Clet was also so kind to pose for us next to his self-portrait.

Via dell'Olmo

Still on the trail of Clet Abraham in the San Niccolò neighborhood, part of the Oltrarno area of Florence.
This fishbone arrow shows us that we are closing in on our objective...
In fact, there he is, just under the sign, standing on the doorstep of his studio.

On the Trail of Clet

Prepare yourself for some familiar objects caught out of our usual jurisdiction...
Clet Abrahams, a punch-throwing no-entry sign, via dell'Erta Canina, Florence
We were coming down from the basilica of San Miniato al Monte (St. Minias on the Mountain), when we saw this on the corner of a street with the improbable name of Via dell'Erta Canina (Street of the Canine Slope).
Clet Abrahams, pedestrian crossing with an Egyptian, via del Monte alle Croci, Florence
Just before the city walls, still along Via del Monte alle Croci, we saw this “Cross Like an Egyptian” and we knew we were approaching Clet Abraham's territory: he lives and works here, in Florence, after all.

Clet in Venice

It is obviously not the real Venice, not many traffic signs for Clet Abraham there, but our Venezia quarter. The Breton artist was present at an exhibition in his honor and left all around some of his new creations.

Who Stole Clet's Heart

Turn left arrow with pierced heart, Clet Abraham, piazza del Municipio, Livorno
This is the first traffic sign “improved” by Clet Abraham I saw in March 2012. I deleted the two old stickers because I didn't like them: you can see below how the image was posted.
Turn left arrow with pierced heart, Clet Abraham, piazza del Municipio, Livorno
In due time the municipality removed all the Clet's signs, selling some on eBay and keeping the others in storage. Some were used for the recent Clet Abraham's Exhibition and just a few days after that, I saw something strange.
Turn left arrow, piazza del Municipio, Livorno
That first sign was still around, with the unmistakable ugly stickers, but without the heart, which is itself a sticker. Someone lifted it and maybe used it on a cleaner sign... Who stole Clet's heart?

Clet Abraham's Exhibition

Clet Abraham's exhibition, La Bottega del Caffè, Livorno
We deserve your eternal gratitude for venturing through the smelly and sweaty heart of “Effetto Venezia” to explore an exhibition of some of Clet Abraham's “improved” traffic signs.
