Hämeenmaa

The “Hämeenmaa” is a minelayer of the Finnish Navy, launched in 1991 and thoroughly modernized in 2007.

The ships of this class, the other is the “Uusimaa”, are practically perfect for monitoring Russia's Baltic fleet.

Since October 2013 the “Hämeenmaa” is also the flagship of the Finnish Navy.

Beautiful photos of this rather menacing piece of military might. I would agree it is a necessary ship because it does a necessary job these days.

It sure is big! It's sad that countries need to protect themselves from other nations but it's important to be alert and ready.
