Zahir

Sailboat Zahir, LivornoThe Zahir” (El Zahir) is a short story by the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges. The zahir is a frequent thought, an uncontrollable obsession that insinuates itself slowly in the mind until it comes to posses a person completely. (Picture taken on April 25th)

This boat, the el zahir, must be the sailor's perfect passion!

Thank you for the story on the boat's name. It is a great name. Sailing is a passion, and boats demand the attention of the sailor completely. My favorite time in a sailboat is turning the engine off and filling the sails with wind. The silence is overwhelming.

I can see how this boat would become the owner's zahir.

Maybe they were going for a round the world trip. If so I wonder where they are today.

I also love Jorge L. Borges, but haven't read El Zahir and now I'm curious. Lovely shot.

Beautiful nautical image VP I can see how the owner would become obsessed with this beauty.
