Love Padlocks
Local sweethearts chain their love padlocks around a lamp post on the “lungomare”, a tradition revived a few years ago by the movie “Ho voglia di te” (I Want You).In the movie, which is set in Rome, the two lovers use a lamp post on the Ponte Milvio (Wikipedia image).
In time they got so many imitators that at least a couple of lamp posts crumbled under the weight of chains and padlocks.

Ciao!
Yesterdays post was probably a bit too martial, with all these flying flags and daring paratroopers. So let's finish the official chapter of the TAN in a gentler tone. The helicopter, just after the launch of the parachutists, flew very low with the crew waving hands as saying: “Ciao!”.
The band of the Navy was playing in the nearby Gazebo a selection of not very martial tunes, while sails of any size and description crowded the waters in front of the Terrazza Mascagni.

End of TAN
The last day of the TAN at noon with the traditional jump of some parachutists over the Terrazza Mascagni. The first one is flying the flag of the Navy, which is the Italian flag with the emblems of the four Repubbliche Marinare (Maritime Republics).
The second parachutist is from the “Folgore” (Thunderbolt) Brigade, the largest paratrooper unit of the Army, based in Livorno. A third and a fourth follow with the standard of the TAN and of the city of Livorno.
Two pennants were dropped just before the jump, falling in the sea in front of the Terrazza.

Suvereto's Wines
Some more images from the canvas “village” of the TAN, inside the Porto Mediceo. This “elegant” waitress advertises a tasting of the renowned wines from Suvereto.
Crews of the J24 yachts at work before a race. On the left the mizzen mast of the training ship “Palinuro” is misteriously erupting dark smoke.
The restaurant inside the “village”. Several other eateries serve less formal but usually delicious food and refreshment.

Nautilus
Every year for the TAN a set of large white canvas tents sprouts in the Porto Mediceo. This “village” is full of shops selling anything related to sailing and something more.
This is a display of “Nautilus”, a shop based in Bordighera specialized in seashells, fossils and minerals.
