Otterness' Fiddler
The above panel is one of a series advertising a new bus service in Lower Manhattan: the image is a detail of the sculpture “The Real World” by Tom Otterness, in Battery Park City, New York.
I am obviously quite happy that they used, after asking permission, a photo of mine for this ad.

IKEA in Pisa
Tomorrow a new Ikea store is opening in Pisa, while in Livorno retail shops keep closing. The Swedish giant put up an oversized living room in Piazza Cavour to remind us to flock to the opening.

Mulino Bianco
In mid-August everything grinds to a halt here, but this time a watermill appeared in “Piazza Cavour”. It is obviously a very fake mill inspired by the “Mulino Bianco” (White Flour Mill), a brand name of the “Barilla Group”, the Italian pasta producer. They are on tour trying to teach us how to do an healthy Italian breakfast, which reasonably involves some of their products, anyhow quite good.
People had to fill a form, then were offered a short lesson and a bag of products, which they could take away or consume comfortably seated outside the “mill”.

Not a Martian
My friend Stefano first saw this vehicle, and we have tried to catch it for a long time. So when another friend, Paolo, called me on Saturday to tell me that it was parked in “Via Grande”, I rushed out with my faithful camera.
This is how a mason-plumber advertises his work, literally putting it on display on his tiled and plastered “Ape” with a chimney. He has gone a long way to personalize his vehicle, but his rear view mirror keeps reminding me of something in my shower.
You can see a complete kitchen sink on the right side of the “Ape”. A wall of pictures representing works done by its owner graces the other side of the vehicle and its back.
Still on the back you have a complete wood oven, hence the chimney, with some spare logs neatly stored and a couple of drawers. The large and verbose sign says: I am not a martian but a normal mason who loves his work and much enjoys it. I like rustic but can do anything...
