Church of the Dormition
The entrance of the Greek Orthodox Cemetery in Via Mastacchi.
The plaque outside the gate, in Greek and Italian, says: “Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, Archdiocese of Italy, church of the Dormition of Our Lady in Livorno.” The small church is barely visible from the outside.

Tina
For most of us Tina Forrester was East Gwillimbury CameraGirl, a fellow blogger and photographer. Sadly, she died with her husband in a car accident a few days ago. We will miss her and her great pictures.

Poor Old Walls!
It is not the first time that bush cutters are used to get rid of the weeds from the ancient walls of the Porto Mediceo.
The ground around is literally covered with fragments of the crushed old bricks.

On Instagram
Last summer Instagram increased the size of its images to 1080 x 1080 pixels from the obsolete 640 x 640 pixels. It also began to allow the upload of photos that aren't square, lifting another annoying limit to this platform.
I posted my first photo on IG in mid-November and went on using mostly, but not only, images from this blog. This explains a few square photos seen lately on LPD: this format, when not mandatory, may be an interesting option for both platforms. The ‘unsquare’ format has some limits (a 3:2 ratio for landscape and 4:5 for portrait) and you still have to use an Android or an iOS device with Instagram to upload the photos, but you can easily see them with any browser on any kind of operative system.
Sorry if I have bothered you with things you are already familiar with, but this is still a new world for me.

Palazzo San Sebastiano
The “Palazzo San Sebastiano” (Saint Sebastian building) was built in the late twenties of the last century, along with two other buildings, for the “Istituto Nazionale Immobiliare”.
The namesake Saint appears in a relief on a corner of the building, with above a curious obelisk of sorts.

A Chimera
According to Greek mythology, the Chimera was a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature composed of the parts of more than one animal. It is usually depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat arising from its back, and a tail with a snake's head. Ours is huge, and it is on the facade of a building in Piazza del Municipio.
