Sardinia Regina

Sardinia Regina ferry, IMO 7205910, leaving the Porto Mediceo, LivornoThe “Sardinia Regina” is leaving the “Porto Mediceo” escorted by a pilot boat. I like the shape of this ferry because it is like a scaled-down version of an old-fashioned cruise ship. She was built as “Visby” for a Swedish owner in 1972 at the Jozo Lozovina-Mosor Shipyard in Trogir, Croatia (Yugoslavia then). In the 1980s she was back in the Mediterranean, soon joined by her sister ship, the “Corsica Victoria”.

love the whole composition and color of this photo...reminds me a little of the Costa ship Amerikanis!

Just discovered the Amerikanis has been scrapped, how sad, Don and I took our honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas on her in 1982!

Beautifully composed image VP and I agree with you she looks so very much more elegant than some of the newer models. Very stylish!

It's a beautiful ship, VP, but after the recent tragedy it is not an attractive transport mean for me...

What a great shot this is, VP. I loved yesterday's brick vault, too.

What a great shot, VP! The yellow really pops against that dark sky. And the green lamp(?) is the cherry on top of the cake.

It really is a beautiful shape, and dramatic clouds, too.

Those rocks seems so near. Imagine having to steer a huge ship so close. I'm glad your good Pilota is there.

Before I sailed on the Enotria I always thought pilots were only for planes.

Nice angle. I also like the bright yellow of the boat and the green lamppost.

Truly beautiful ship!
Last October, I went to Corsica on board the "Victoria".
I really enjoyed exploring the interiors, quite extraordinary.
