Fenced Off

Dutch Church, Chiesa degli Olandesi, Scali degli Olandesi, LivornoIt has been several months after the last significant collapse, but something has changed around the Dutch Chirch. The temporary barriers has been replaced by a fence shielded by concrete blocks. The street remains closed and the church building untouched.

Such a beautiful structure. Sad to think that it will be torn down.

Yes, so beautiful... sometimes 'progress' is sad and painful...

It is a great church. Hopefully they will work on it.

I hope they can raise the funds to do the restoration VP, it would be a shame to see it fall apart.

It is sad indeed when a structure with so much history has been slowly crumbling.

Yes, a beautiful building. It sure appears to be worth restoration.... :\

I wonder if that is a good sign or a bad sign. I wonder what the new fence portends for the handsome old church.

Such a beautiful church and such a horrible fence!

If/when they tear this beautiful church down, I hope they will try to save the art work and repurpose/recycle the stone so it will live in another form! I have asked to join the Facebook Group "Let's save the Dutch church in Livorno". Your other post concerning this church suggested that no one has been able to come up with a viable everyday use for this church...this is indeed sad!
