We already saw the “Residenza Astoria”, but this time of the year its flowerbeds are more colorful and interesting.Their prickly pears have plenty of fruits, known as “fichi d'India” or literally Indian figs. Many bees around these flowers, but I didn't catch any.

I always think it's interesting to see prickly pear in a seaside region. Probably because we have prickly pear here, but no sea!
Can you eat the fruit? The colorful flowers brighten my day ;D
To bee or not to bee. I can't catch the darn things either...they either get too deep into the flower or fly off just before I press the shutter button!
Can you eat those "figs"? Probably not. Look more like prickly pears! ;-)
Hope you and Trillian have a wonderful week!
Now the 'Astoria' look like what I call a Gazania. But those Daisy tyes look so much alike. MB
And hopefully none of the bees caught you.
You "picked" a nice selection to show us.
Be careful catching those bees. They don't like to be caught.
They are beautiful! I have quite a few bees in my flower beds right now too.
Very interesting and sooo beautiful flower, I didn't know about it's name, thanks a lot!

Finally caught up with your blog after being gone for several days. Such fascinating posts again. I especially like how you showed the not-so-nice parts of Livorno. I also enjoyed the focus lesson. These three are all lovely, but I like the first two-tone flower best of all.
That first flower is gorgeous!
The first flower shot is amazing! Prickly pears are also known here as Figos da Índia (that Columbus guy fooled many with the 'India thing'! LOL!)
Lol @ JM! Lovely yellows here!
Evviva!
A presto.
p.s.
Ho iniziato ricerche sulle opere realizzate sotto Leopoldo II.
The TOP photo is so NICE!
Thanks for sharing!:-)
@ marshall - Grazie delle gentili parole e dell'augurio.

Nice flower shots. Too bad you didn't get a bee. I love the bright colors. It's perfect for a Monday!
Love this collection of colors and flowers.
Cool! I have to come back when I'm not working and enjoy it some more. I saw this on my sidebar, and couldn't ignore the name!
So warm already to have flowers blooming. And prickly pears! Boston is way too cold for prickly pears. We have them here in the South West part of the country. Makes great jam.
Nice shots, I have tried those fruits that grow on the cactus! They're yummy :-)
