Pisan Walk

Roman she-wolf in PisaHeavy rain interrupted my Sunday walk, so I decided to have my walk on Monday, in Pisa. As you can see from the first picture, Pisans are quite confused about their ancestry.Sign to Leaning Tower, PisaThe poor fellows are so proud of their Leaning Tower that they placed these snazzy new signs everywhere.Sculpture, Leaning Tower of PisaThey tried to add some sculptures to their world-famous tower, but luckily they gave up soon, after this.Leaning benches of PisaEverything is leaning in Pisa, even the benches in “Via Corsica”.Coats of arms with knives, PisaStrange coats of arms on ancient houses, this one is puzzling...

What a funny post. I was laughing out loud and Lois Anne was looking at me like I was crazy! Great job of poking fun at the goofy Pisans!

Nice shots. I had one of the most wonderful times while staying in Pisa for a couple of weeks. I truly enjoyed the place and the people I met there.

The last shot puzzles me. A manufacturer of fine designer toothpicks, perhaps?

You are too funny. It's a great post. I love the coat of arms. It's very simple, yes? No explanations, no roaring lions, no idications of years. You're right, it's quite weird, but I like it. i also thing that any town with a rhinoceros on its cathedral can't be as bad as you say it is.

I think I'd stay away from the house with the Coat of Arms!

I am getting the idea that there is a big rivalry between Livorno and Pisa. Am I right?

Nice (and funny) details today.

I must have missed all this on my visit to Pisa and the tower so thanks for filling in the gaps!

These shots are great. I was just watching a tv show that took place in Pisa. I would love to go there some day.

Yep, really confusing... Romulus, Remus and the monkeys? WTF?

The benches are really funny. Now if everything leaned in Pisa, everything would appear straight.

Such beautiful light! It would be interesting to know the iconography of the knives on the coat of arms. And the monkies are pretty cool. I wonder what they represent. Of course, the famous sculpture of Romulus & Remus. I think that one is a reproduction of the original unearthed centuries ago? Ah! Italy! Must be amazing to be born into such a culture with a long & fabulously rich culture. And, the sunlight anin't so bad either.
