Nero

Nero yacht by Yantai Raffles shipyard in China, LivornoThis isn't the set for a movie on board a 1920s cruise ship. This is “Nero”, a 295 foot vessel inspired by the financier J.P. Morgan's legendary “Corsair” yacht.Nero yacht by Yantai Raffles shipyard in China, LivornoThis ship was built in 2008 by the Yantai Raffles shipyard in China for the “Corsair Yachts”, combining the classic style of Morgan’s boat with 21st-century technology. “Nero” just entered our small dry dock for routine maintenance.Nero yacht by Yantai Raffles shipyard in China, LivornoThis luxury boat, more a small cruise ship than a yacht, usually charters at a weekly base rate of $431,000 for ten passengers.

That's a beauty of a ship, but a little out of my price range. I'd gladly go as a guest though.

Oh, wait....I've got to stop laughing and coughing. Hold on, I'm gonna get a tissue to dry my tears!

$431,000 per week for 10 people? That's $43,100 per week per person.

It boggles the mind. We have millions of people all over the world homeless, hungry, thirsty ... who would spend $43,100 for a week on this fancied up steamboat?

Oh, well, can't change the world. But I can sure crab about it!

Well, does anyone else want to chip in to help pay that bill? I'll go. I think it looks Italian.

this is a beautiful ship, & it is quite amazing that some people have this kind of disposable income. Nice photos VP.
Also, thanks for all the info about Billy Joel.
Alexa wrote that she tried to call the restaurant you mentioned - across from Carnegie Hall & there was no answer. She said she has eaten there many times. I hope maybe they are just closed for the night. It sounds like a place I would love to check out.
Thank you again for your interesting comments!

Quite a weird combination. (But then, I'm not familiar with the Corsair.)
Do they need a deckhand, experienced? :)

It looks like a very sleek, handsome ship. And I like that bright, cheerful spot of yellow. Could have been garish, but surprisingly, it's not.

But $431,000 for a week? Gulp. Following on Jacob's rant, we can build about 350 houses for the poor with that. And it'll last them a lifetime. Sigh…

A bit too pricey for me, sorry to say. And I agree with other commenters, that money could surely be better spent elsewhere!

I beg to disagree, hundreds of people here work building or doing maintenance of high end motor yachts.
Most of us spend money in silly ways (I do), without always thinking to all the derelicts of the planet, and my 100$ are the 100,000$ of a very rich.
It may seems strange but compared to the cost of buying and keeping a superyacht, chartering a boat for a week or two is quite cheap. For them.
In this case usually one pay and the others are guests on board. Catering and tips are usually apart.

Love that yellow stack.

I'll have to start playing Euromillion.
It is a nice ship though. I wish MB's ship in Stanwood could get some dry dock treatment too and I'm sure a week's rate of Nero would help it a lot.

AH! To be rich and famous! At least you can photograph it for free. :)

You see a lot of amusing ships (it's hard to call this a "yacht") in your harbor!

She's a beauty of a boat! Wish I had a millionaire friend who could pay the weekly rental fee!
Bon voyage

If I had money I would definitely charter this beauty - even for longer:)

Love the shot w/ that yellow. The story was even more interesting. Another tale of JP Morgan.

Sounds lovely! This also looks like a smaller version of the ship at Tokyo Disney Sea, although it's not a real ship :)

The first composition is incredible! Well done, VP.!

What a lovely idea to build a new "old" ship.I hope the rental includes food and alcohol. Love it.

Although most of us are struggling in this economy, obviously there are some folks out there who are doing just fine! Imagine! Half a million dollars to live on a boat for one week! Hey! An amazing boat. But, the price of an apartment?

It's a beautiful ship with a very elegant design. I'm not going to say everything about the price, as too many people did already :)
