Tiles

Tiles, Terrazza Mascagni, LivornoYou could play endless perspective games with the black and white tiles of the checkered pavement of the “Terrazza Mascagni”.Tiles, Terrazza Mascagni, LivornoIn this view toward North we can see in background some cranes of the port and, in the middle, the building of the Aquarium, still closed because subject to a never ending restoration process.Tiles, Terrazza Mascagni, LivornoSome smart kids recently sprayed a lot of these tiles with love messages. The cleaning bill will amount to thousands of euro.

All three of these really succeed. I think it's the tile that gives them such depth and texture. The eye is really drawn into them on a journey. Nicely done, Trillian.

That's so sad about the spray! What a wonderful place to walk and imagine. I think the tiles could become hypnotic and restful. I do hope the aquarium opens someday. They're much better with fish in them!

Yes, it looks the place everybody tend or want to do something and mischief.

What a great series...and yes, it's the perspective. The place looks huge! These photos are just plain fun to look at!

Too bad, though, that morons have to try to ruin such beauty! I think it's the same problem around the world!

How sad! I wish there was a way to make kids think before causing so much damage!

No, no, no, not grafitti! I think cities should create parks for people to do their grafitti work, maybe it would help reduce the vandalism.
Someone had a beautiful vision when they designed this. I would love to walk along her. You have such a beautiful city.

The tiles make LOTS of patterns and optical illusions!

sono capitata cercando foto e mi sono fermata.
il mio inglese è arruginito, ma cercherò di impegnarmi.
le tue foto sono molto interessanti e il gioco dei colori della pavimentazione gli da un tocco di surrealismo.

Excellent compositions! You've captured the tiles and their surroundings really well. I love the first photo in particular, where the tiles come from two directions :-)

Love... Great shots Trillian, it's kind of dizzying yet I would love to walk around there listening to Cavalleria Rusticana!

STYLE, and I hope "love walks" will take over "love messages". A wonderful place!!

@ lodolite: Siamo un po' pigri con la versione italiana, ma in genere appare in giornata...

That wasn't very smart at all, they should obviously have to clean up after them selves.

Lovely photos. Endless perspective games indeed, I would like to try my hand at photographing this pavement.

These tiles are probably my favorite thing I've seen in Livorno /except for the giant meat buts on the market/
