Microcirco

This fake window of a fake trailer with a cage of fake birds was so irresistible that I had to shoot the whole thing. The “Microcirco” is a small tent mounted in front of the church of Santa Caterina. It is one of the many attractions, many of them not so attractive, swarmed in town for the annual summer festival called “Effetto Venezia”.I have never liked circus and surely this would be no exception, but it is so absurdly tiny that it makes me laugh even closed.
The tiny square which hosts the circus tent is practically the roof of these “cantine”, old storerooms and shops on the canals, now restaurants and pubs.

How is there room for an audience?
I'm glad that you got pictures because it would be hard to explain how small it is.
Very cute. :-)

I really like this fake bird cage and the tent looks like Cirque du Soleil.

I've never been a fan of a circus too, but this one seems amusing :-)

So, I guess they don't have a big flying trapeze, non? Fun snaps of the mini-circus!

What a fascinating series of photographs. This teeny, tiny circus is intriguing. I, also, am not a fan of the circus, but this is a real novelty. I'm glad it caught your attention and you shared this with us.

Irresistibly charming! Everything about it made me smile.

Thank you for the link to the custom yacht builder and for warning me not to cry. My eyes just kept getting bigger and bigger while looking at the photos. They're fantastic but when I think of the excessive lifestyle they represent…

Was it a confrontation with a weird clown that scared you as a kid? People either like the circus or hate them. I've become a fan of Cirque du Soleil. They are very intertaining and amazing. But your circus tent really adds to the scene. Very colorful.

Very strange. And funny. And weird. Fake birds and cages and windows.

Hmmm. What else is going on in your town these days?

The colours of the tent make it so appealing in the beauty of your lovely town. Love all the photos. Charming.

Lucky people who can go there.

I wonder if everything in the circus was fake. It made for some interesting photos! Funny, I like the two paintings with the clowns, although I don't normally like clowns. Probably the weird context helps make it interesting! Nice pix.

Seems there's a lot of fake-ness going on!

I'm not a circus fan either, neither micro nor macro!

Mmmm, fake window, cage & birds .... perhaps in line with the fake lives of the clowns hiding behind their masks .....

@ Frank - My mom still reports the story when, at four, I bit a dog: not easily scared then. Now it's different...
@ ciel - Our Venice, the quarter, in its full glory during this week.

I like especially the first shot! Great detail!

In front of the church? Seems like an odd place to park.

Well, the cage and the photo certainly aren't fake. Reality wins hands down.

Sorry about that - I love circus! Your pictures are lovely. Are both of the birds fake? Nice colorful decorations - bring the feeling of childish mystery hype that goes when you approach the circus tent. Fabulous series! Me like it!

There was a circus outside my window today! They visit every year. When I was a kid the circus had elephants and other wild animals. Back then the circus people usually asked my grandfather if the animals could stay on our fields. But just like you I never visit the circus, but I often photograph the tents just like you.
