Wood & Iron

Wooden boat, Darsena Nuova, LivornoWooden boats are rare now and often kept in very good condition by their careful and proud owners.Iron boat, Fosso Reale, LivornoSmall iron boat are rarer and enlarging this image you can see that the owner, and probable builder, of this riveted battleship took no chances with lesser materials.

Very nice wood work. Can't think that I've seen a boat like that before

Both boats are interesting, but aesthetically I prefer the wooden ship.

I don't think I've ever seen a small sailboat made out of iron before. I find it amazing. Though, like Saretta, it's the wooden boat that I think is gorgeous!

There's something so appealing about the shape of boats. Perhaps because they are a sort of cradle to rock us and protect us on the water.

All I see is work, work, work.

That wooden boat looks great. Someone obviously takes good care of it! The metal one is neat too.

Beautiful shot of the wooden boat. The Iron boat one is very interesting as well, especially the rope braiding

Wonderful old boats. I especially like the wooden one. It looks very well kept, I hear that termites can be a big problem if left unchecked.

I like boat photos too. I can't get over how shiny the wooden one is!

When I was young, one of the great pleasures was to ride in a Chriscraft speedboat, made of wood...they were and are beautiful...that first shot of yours is stunning - what a gorgeous boat.

Unfortunately, they are, as you say, rare, and do take a lot of upkeep!

Great design on the top photo. It's a bit sad that the wooden boats are disappearing.
