Full and empty at the same time. I think this may be true of all of the 'empty' images I've seen so far. It all depends on your point of view, doesn't it? What is empty of one thing seems to be full of something else.
@ brattcat - It was Aristotle that said that 'Nature abhors a vacuum'. He was then disproved about thermodynamics, but for less scientific purposes he was probably right.

Very nicely done, VP!
Good theme day shot. I like the geometry of this shot, well done.
Empty it is!!! Have a great day!
Piers look so lonely without ships.
Lovely composition though!
Empty of ships but full of exquisite lines and shapes. Good choice.

Wonder what will be arriving?
Beautifully composed shot. I'm always fascinated by those bollards waiting for a ship's rope.
I am sure it won't be empty for long!
Happy theme day!!
Very interesting, I agree it won't be lonely for long:)
Those big ships are held tight by those little blue things?!
@ Saretta - No, this is the pier usually reserved for small ferries to Elba and Capraia: the longest boat barely reaches 70 meters.
I wish I could be soaking up the beauty of that color in person. Marvellous emptyness.
I have seen that pier before.. the harbour is a great place to take shots, not a likely place where you find emptiness...
Cheers from Marcel
Well, I guess some peoples' ship was never meant to come in!
Nicely taken, a good choice for the theme day!
I like the colours and lines in this photo!
