Maremma is a large area of south-western Tuscany whose ‘spirit’ the “Dagadà Spirito di Maremma” honors with her name. 42-year-old Simone Gesi crossed the Atlantic with this 6.50 meter sailboat, taking part in the 2011 Mini Transat 6.50, a solo transatlantic yacht race that started in La Rochelle (France), to end in Salvador de Bahia (Brazil), after 4000 miles, with only a stop in Funchal.

No place for a claustrophobic!
It is hard to imagine a long trip alone across the Atlantic in such a small vessel!
Good for a short day trip, but not for too long!
Solar power, I love it.
Some people, sailor people, are so brave.
The French love organising 'transats' even if it has to be in nutshells. Actually, I wouldn't mind trying.
I can't even imagine doing something like that VP, they would need all that equipment for sure.
I wouldn't do that for all the money in the world but I'll bet they had fun. Solar panels, that's amazing.

Very impressive achievement.
Brave guys like this one are rare...
