Assembling the Bridge

New footbridge, Fortezza Vecchia, Livorno
Half of the new bridge, with the sliding part visible, safely moored in a day with 100 km/h (70 mph) winds.

On Friday, two days later, most of the footbridge is already in place.

From afar, we can easily see the retractable part in the middle and the fixed pontoons on the sides.

That's quite an efficient way to go about it!

So interesting to see how it is fitted together. But how could they work in that wind??
The bridge sure makes a change in the landscape.

Well, it is going to take time and will cost money...
The result will be very good!

Dina - Nobody was at work on Wednesday: I was barely able to stand still to take a few pictures, and even the water of the canal was rough. They had all Thursday and Friday morning to get the work done: the 2nd and 3rd shots were taken around noon, on Friday.

Looks like the wind brought sunshine... This is going to be great and I love your documenting of the works!

Looks like it will be a fine structure and a fine addition to your city. 70 mph winds! That's amazing - hurricane strength!
