Since the recent reopening of the Fortezza Nuova, I have been asking myself where are the cats I saw the last time I visited the already closed fortress, in September 2009.
The answer is that they are probably still there, but their presence is more discrete.
Now they have to share the fortress with humans... and even dogs.

Whoa! Did someone say "dogs"?! No wonder the cats are being more discrete.
Cats can be very clever when they don't want to be seen!
The cat in the last picture looks a lot like our two little sweeties! A couple of years ago, along the Tampa waterfront, we noticed a place where a number of cats hung out. They looked well-fed so someone must have been taking care of them.
The marking on the skull of the cat in the first photo is quite unusual and attractive. Since our theme day, I'm seeing triangles everywhere. . .even in cats' ears!
Cats are beautiful and can be sneaky and secretive too.
Oh, they're cute!
We had a cat colony here on Parliament Hill. The colony all got adopted out.
Cute cats.
Well perhaps they are more discreet because of the dogs?
I hope they are still there. That almost white one in your first shot is really striking.
These are beautiful portraits of beautiful cats. They seem to be still thriving.
Glad there is room in the fort for several species.
I enjoy the link back to your 2009 post showing the whole cat colony!
Cats are great! Wonderful pictures VP.
Cute cats and nice shots, VP.
I bet there are many many more..., right?
Karl - Yes, there are many more and I will show you a few in another post.
Cats are smart!:)
The cats are cute and well maintained. Is it possible that they have an owner and are only walking there?
