Ten Years

Tiles for America, 7th Avenue at 11th Street, New York That day we were not in Livorno, but taking a vacation in London. So when it happened we didn't know at first, until we saw people gathering in front of some TV sets in a department store, watching something almost unbelievable.Tree, US Embassy, September 12, 2001, LondonThe day after we went to the American Embassy, where people were leaving flowers at a tree draped with an American flag. Soon there were too many and they had to move them to another place, where the 9/11 memorial is now.

I was in London as well, working. Went for a coffee in the office kitchen, saw what I first thought was some catastrophe movie. Once we understood the unbelievable, we stopped working for the rest of the day, and also the following day, being a US company.

I was at home when it happened. I turned on the TV and watched the news coming in. A horrible day that changed the world.

I was at the faculty and heard some unbelievable rumors first. Then I went home and watch CNN in horror, all day long and the days after.

It was a working day for me but from the moment it happened (luchtime) there was this strange silence in my office. Actually we ended up by going home earlier to watch everything on tv.

Your post shows us that the events of 9.11 affected so many people around the globe, not just the US.
