Venice's Canal

New canal, viale Caprera, LivornoAfter a few months the skeleton of a future footbridge marks the point where the new canal, now flooded, joins the older one.New canal, viale Caprera, LivornoThe part of the canal toward the sea is still under construction and almost dry.New canal, viale Caprera, LivornoIn this point the new dig will join the existing system of canals, just where the historical Venice quarter's “cantina” (rowing club) was. The boat sheds are being torn down to make room for the canal.

  4. It will be fun to see it when it's done. I'm sure you'll show us! Funny to think I can see a canal project taking shape that far away.

  6. Too bad the rowing club is evicted.
Nice to watch the construction of little bridges.
This all kind of reminds me of the old Israeli classic movie "Blaumilch Canal" in which a lunatic digs a 30 meter canal in Tel Aviv

  7. Did I understood? This is a channel in Livorno, called Venice. Is it correct? I like the last photo, with all those boats looking as shipwrecked on a shore...

  8. @ Traveling Hawk - “Venezia Nuova”, or New Venice, is the name of a whole quarter in Livorno, crossed by canals called “fossi”.
