“Villa Jana”, or “Castel Jana” as modestly written on a plaque at the main gate, is a striking structure in eclectic style built in 1921 in the outskirts of Quercianella.
Quercianella, an administrative division of Livorno, is a lovely seaside resort and the southernmost part of our Municipality.
The belvedere of the villa faces the bay on the south of the Romito headland, dominated by “
Castel Sonnino”.
The villa has a turreted access to a small jetty...
... and to a pebble beach nearby.

You have sold me on this "seaside" resort. What do you think it would cost for Lois and I to spend a few days there?
Hope you're doing well!
A wonderful castle - nicely documented! Nice beach too. Did you have warm water this year? While in Pula, 1st week of August, we have very cool sea water.
VP these are wonderful! I would love to visit there.
Beautiful photos.
grazie perle informazioni molto dettagliate ed istruttive
What a beautiful area..... with so many nice and interesting places... Enjoy your weekend!
What a neat place and privileged views!
God bless you!

The person who designed it must have been really imaginative and creative! The view is breathtaking!
What a lovely use for a grand old castle.
Wow, I can't imagine why I'm not already there! I love that last shot, you can see everything :D
A castle built in the 1920s. Cool!
We have an Italian tower in Jerusalem just like that first square one.
great shots.
I love it. I wish I were there. It is just grand looking. I like all the shots but the last one best. MB
Oh wow, weird but wow, what a place!
Very interesting shots!
It's beautiful and reminds me so much of this house I posted some time ago: http://oeirasdailyphoto.blogspot.com/search?q=forte+da+cruz
It looks a bit out of place w/ the umbrellas and all.
@ Jacob - Wait for the next post, you may find it useful...
@ JM - You are right, the similarity of the tower is stunning!
VP, as always, your photos and reporting are outstanding. But allow me to be a bit contrary. It appears to me the scale of this villa/castle is off... from its design - architecture - it looks like it should be a big building or complex while it is in fact quite small. Sort of like a midget castle. Hmmm...? Or am I seeing it wrong? Can't argue with it being is a lovely spot, though.
@ Francisca - You got it perfectly right: this is a fancy villa, not a castle, with an excellent location and a large park.
I think this was intended and apparent from many details of the building. Maybe we'll see that in another post...
Wow. What a place. The architect didn't do much wrong here.
