The Kind Gull

Flying gull, LivornoI was sitting on a rock at the entrance of the port when a seagull recognized me and banked kindly toward my camera.Flying gull, LivornoIt was very cold and windy, but at least the first shot was good and the second passable.Majestic cat on a rock, LivornoI was now happy but, as you can see, one of the resident cats of the harbor was unimpressed.

What a great little photo story. Love the cat's face!

The seagull must of known you'd make him look handsome in the photo :)

Both the gull shots are superb! I like the second one the best! And the cat, well, for crying out loud, can't you see she's saying, "I love you, Vogon Poet!"? I mean look at those eyes!

I think the cat wants the gull to come closer - just so she can get a better look at it.

Cats are just not very impressed by the antics of birds, especially attention getters. They want the attention themselves.

Fun captures.

Very nice shots. The wing span looks really big. I've always liked seagulls.

All three photos are good animal captures! Must be lovely to see on a rock by the ocean! I just hope the seagull didn't drop anything on you...

I think that the cat is probably more interested in the seagulls than humans. I particularly like the second photo...the close-up of the bird.

It is so hard to capture a bird on the wing and you did a fabulous job. I think the cat is just letting you know that although unimpressed she knows she could wrestle that silly bird to the ground. 2 out of 3 falls and then dinner. MB

So nice of gull indeed - both photos are terrific and the cat's 'face expression' is just delicious:)

Oh no your bird shots are excellent---You caught them in the air--perfect. MB

He pose kindly for you camera, wonderful shot! :)
Also I loved that cute cat, and don't worry it's about cat's mood, completely normal! :)

Looks as if this cat has dealt with seagulls before.

Funny! I'm glad the seagull didn't leave any "presents" for your photo either.

How very nice of the seagull. I think Kitty's jealous that he wasn't your first choice for a portrait.

I'd be careful of that cat. He doesn't look very happy having you around.

I'm a big fan of critter shots, especially since they're not as easy as they look. They're always moving!

That seagull was definitely posing for you! The cat looks healthy and well fed, so he must not be missing too many meals.

Jonathan Livingstone at its best! And the second shot is very good, not passable! :-)

You were definitely in the right place at the right time for the bird pictures! The cat, however, looks like he prefers a no-photographer zone.

Actually, I think that cat is furious because dinner just flew by.

Entirely unimpressed. Cats are creatures of integrity.

Sitting on a rock in the cold and wind--something only a photo blogger would do.
I'm glad you did. :)

Hey, we both published seagulls yesterday, so snap. Lovely shots. Thanks for kind words on my blog's 3rd birthday VP.

Seagulls in Boston are a suspicious lot & fly away whever anybody has a camera. And, we don't have feral cats. Our world has become so sanitized.

Very interesting - you have an island prison? Just like Count of Monte Cristo or Devil's Island. Love that Medici fortress.

:) Cute. I think the cat is trying to figure out the secrets of flight, so it can chase the birds on their own turf.
