Just before arriving to the Sonnino Castle we pass a road bridge on the spectacular cove of Calignaia, which we have seen in the last photo of yesterday post.
Further inland, up the valley amidst the “Colline Livornesi” (Livornesi Hills), we can see the destroyed bridge on the old road route, on the side of the railway bridge.
Another glimpse of the pebbled beach of Calignaia, one of the nicest places along the Livornese coastline. Even here a renowned
hotel-restaurant with a spectacular view is perched near the northern side of the bridge.
As suggested by
Andreea of
Bucharest Daily Photo, have a look at the
Bixby Creek Arch Bridge.

Certainly a special place for a hotel. One of my favourite hotels is located by a magnificent suspension bridge in the Swedish province Ångermanland.
That's an impressive and beautiful bridge.
This bridge reminds me of some of the bridges on Highway 1 along the Pacific Coast in the Big Sur area of California.
Arches are so beautiful. And so strong too. Good shots, VP.
A superb view of a marvelous looking architecture! Great shots!
Some impressive bridges taken by an impressive (world famous) photographer!
You've got very nice angles to show us this bridge, the landscape is really remarkable! And the castle is neat too!
God bless you!

Lunch after a bath. Sounds perfect to me. ;-)
I second Dave's opinion, this reminds me a lot of Highway 1 in Northern California. Here's a photo

The bridge has a beautiful curve which your photos show very nicely.
Postings this week were very interesting & diverse. Italy is so fantastic with its visual diversity. Every corner holds wonders evidencing history. I envy your rising every morning to the endless possibilities of aesthetic pleasure.
I guess I'll have to put a visit to the Livornese coastline on my "bucket list"!
These are really wonderful photos, VP!
Are those a couple of sunbathers in the first picture? If so, they definitely give a sense of scale to the massiveness of the bridge.
I didn't realize how large the bridge is until I enlarged the photo and saw the tiny ant-like people!
Fantastic shot, especially with its sharp shadow. Love the fact that plants are now growing on the destroyed bridge. Looks lovely.
Wonderful perspectives and fab location!
This bridge is impressive!
The hotel looks interesting. And I like the design of the bridge.
The bridge is fascinating, but the grandness and the greenness of the hill is what stole my eyes!
I like this bridge design. I've never seen anything quite like it. Of course, the location is inviting!
This is very interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a bridge over a beach! Nice shot of the Colline Livornesi - are they this green at the moment?
@ Tinsie - They are, I took these photos last Wednesday, October 7.
