All of these clocks are on buildings facing “Viale Carducci”, the tree-lined avenue linking the railway station with the city center. The first image shows one of the four dials on the tower of the church of “
Sant'Andrea”, just opposite the “
Cisternone”.
At the other end of the “viale” we find the clock towering over the entrance of the main railway station, “
Livorno Centrale”.
About half-way we can see the clock of the former Pirelli factory, now a community center and part of the “
Parterre” park.

they are gorgeous. I can never get enought clock shots. I take it that the photos were taken at different times :) or are they on 'ferie' too?
Tash is right, I forgot to say that the photos were taken at different times in two different days. Strangely all these clocks are perfectly working.
As you know I like clocks very much - yours are terrific. I tried to decide which I like the most and well, difficult choice, but I think the first one. it's simple and the contrast is superb.
So, I choose the middle one in colours of see :-)

They are becoming relics of a bygone era. Seems like watches are declining in popularity these days with the increased use of cell phones.
Livorno seems to be a very time-conscious city — so many clocks in one street! Lovely collection, but I have to say that the one of the railway station is the most fascinating because of the ornate details.

Beautiful face of the clock. I don't see many huge clocks out in the open from where I live. =)
Maybe no one in Livorno wears a wristwatch, so you need to have all these clocks for people to tell time...but how would you know when to get up to go to work?

I like clocks - these are piece of art! They say wrist watch is now as obsolete as the record player and cassette player - I don't care - I like mine. I am a time freak - have to always know what time it is. Hate to be late. My hubby is opposite - does not posses a watch - says he always has his Blackberry - he is always late :)
It must be wonderufl to walk down that street. The first image was so striking (no pun intended) with the contrast and the colors! And the old Pirelli factory must be a beautiful building. I'm vaguely remembering an early tire factor in Los Angeles (I grew up in a nearby town) that was built to look like something either pretty or very unusual, and now I can't remember. Anyway, this photo jogged my memory.
