Tensile Structure

Terminal Crociere, Cruise Terminal, Livorno
Not far from the curious building with round windows, we have a tensile structure which offers some shade near the “Terminal Crociere” (Cruise Terminal).

These are very popular here along the coast. Unfortunately, they haven't fared very well in some of our nor-easters.

I can't help but wonder what would happen to this "building" if it was engaged by one of our Florida hurricanes...I like it, though, and we could use it here in the Sunshine State for sure. Shade is a precious commodity.

It's a practical solution. I wish we had some here in the desert.
I don't know why, but this one reminds me of an animal skin stretched and drying, soon to become a vellum scroll. :)

What a clever way to provide some shade and shelter.
