Hotel Palazzo
The magnificent Grand Hotel Palazzo, practically in front of the Terrazza Mascagni.
A quite fantastic representation of the same hotel in a 1906 postcard.

Via Greca
The back of the Hotel Gran Duca on “Via Generale Enrico Tellini”. The street what was once called “Via Greca” (Greek Street), at least since 1784, because of the many shops owned by Greeks.
In 1923 the Italian general Enrico Tellini, on a mission from the League of Nations to oversee a boundary dispute between Greece and Albania, was murdered with his staff near the border, presumably by Greek nationalists. This event escalated quickly in a diplomatic crisis leading to the Corfu incident ... and to the street name change.See also: Hotel Gran Duca

Hotel Gennarino
We have already shown you a five star and a four star hotel, just in case you happen to be in Livorno. Here is a relatively more modest choice, the three star “Hotel Gennarino”.
Definitely a small castle, this building is obviously part of the series on “Viale Italia”.
The hotel is just opposite the “Accademia Navale”, within walking distance of several “bagni” (beach resorts).See also: Viale Italia - The Last Turret - Moorish Mansion - Near a Castle - Sideways - Twins - Pergola Turrets - The Final Pair

Hotel Gran Duca
If you are contemplating a holiday in Livorno, the four stars “Hotel Gran Duca” could be a good choice for your stay.
The distinctive structure hosting the hotel is a Medicean bastion dating back to the 17th Century, located just behind the symbol of Livorno: the monument of the “Quattro Mori” (Four Moors).
Opened in 1966 and completely restored in 2007, it has 80 rooms and apartments, some with a beautiful view on the Pamiglione, the oldest part of the port, and on the “Fortezza Vecchia”.
The hotel has a very good restaurant and is within walking distance of the porticoes of “Via Grande”. The “Porto Mediceo” and the ferries for the islands are just across the street.Friday, April 3, 2009
Grand Hotel Palazzo
The “Grand Hotel Palazzo” seems to be one of the finest hotels in Italy, its location can't be better: on the sea, at the southern end of the “Terrazza Mascagni”. It has all the amenities of five stars hotels: sauna, fitness center, turkish bath, solarium, roof garden, restaurants and bars. It has been recently refurbished to its 19th century glory and has more than 120 rooms and suites over four floors. Top floor rooms have private terraces.
The statue of Benedetto Brin, founder of the “Accademia Navale”, is now placed opposite the church of “San Jacopo”. Where once the statue was, now stands the Neptune fountain, whereas the tower is long gone.See also: Terrazza Mascagni - Neptune and the Nereids - San Jacopo in Acquaviva
