On Wednesday afternoon the vehicle carrier “Violet Ace” got stuck entering the port.
Several tugboats flocked to free her, but their task wasn't made easier by the rough sea.
At last, the 185-meter ship was escorted into port: up to five tugs were involved in the rescue.

Bummer! But this makes me feel better about my car parking skills. :-)
That's something the crew won't hear the end of anytime soon. Very choppy water.
There is now an unemployed captain, I'll bet.
Tug boats to the rescue.
Wow, action shots. I absolutely adore tha last one. You could frame it!
Really, such dramatic shots, ones I won't forget soon!
So hard for me to imagine such a ship "getting stuck." Oi! God bless the little tug boats and their brave crews.
Dina - This kind of ships offers a lot of surface to a strong side wind. As always the tugs look little, but they are heavy and extremely powerful machines, more than 30-meter long.
What a job for those tugs. The ship is enormous!
Weird-shaped ship.
VP these are great shots! Love it when you post them.
Il tempo non era dei migliori! Ciao, Arianna
Superb images!
The final photo is very good.
And you were there to do the coverage. Really great!
