La stüa

La stüa Inn, via Magenta, LivornoThe word stüa is not Italian but Ladin, a language still spoken in some parts of Northern Italy. It literally means stove, but up North the word was often used for a wood-panelled dining room where the stove was.

A good reason for drinking a glas of wine from time to time.
You will not guess the price we pay for it in a restaurant here in Norway...... :(

I like the lettering. You'll have to go and tell us all about it but don't drink water!

So interesting, I had to look at the link for Wikipedia. This region must be a cauldron of languages, no?
God bless you!

I want not to believe that, but it makes a catchy saying and sign.
I only recently learned about the existence of Ladin (through the Bolzano blog).

Anche in lingua tedesca mi sembra che la Stube è il tinello oltreché la stufa. Son lingue più difficili dell'inglese per me! Buona domenica, Arianna
